Is air travel interesting?

Among all forms of travel,  by air is the most boring. You can have delighful conversations in train, sea is at your side if cruise is what you're at, on road is adventurous too on many occasions.

In fact, leaving aside the first time you travel by plane, all other experiences are nothing short of a headache. Like any first time experience, you're curious to see how a plane flies, air hostesses, scene inside the airport, the whole process of getting on board is thrilling. People click selfies to record this moment. However, the next time, the same curiosity is killed. It's a system which operates in a preset organised way, repeated hours after hours, days on. It may be interesting for the airport to witness hoard of passengers heading towards there destination, for the traveller per say, sorry, there is nothing much to experience. The only solace is you save couple of hours choosing this mode of transport.

  • Eyes can't fathom sea of crowd emerging from all quarters.
  • Everyone is either in hurry or lazing around waiting for flight.
  • Boarding starts early so one wakes up early to catch the plane. The energy all around is dull.
  • Each time you bypass stores leading you to your final gate, you wonder 'who buys from here?'
  • This much you could see inside the airport. However, once inside the plane even this view is restricted.
  • At the most, few people around you is all you can see. Like you, they too are wondering 'when will the lights dim off?'  The constant sound of plane's engine, wings gearing up for flight knocks your head right off.
  • Sleep away the time. There is no option, after all. In fact, that's the best given you are tied to your seat. Crew instructs that often on captain's call.

What do you think? Is still a happy journey?

How to simplify process of choosing

Grocery shopping is an integral part for survival. Especially, when you get married and you're on your own to meet all ends meet. It's a matter of great responsibility to run your kitchen, more importantly, run it efficiently.

Whenever I went to supermarket or shopping, choosing among sea of products made my head spin. What to choose or what not to choose became my eternal dilemma.

My latest article ''Too much choice kills the choice" is an attempt to deconstruct this eternal conflict which every buyer faces at some point. In the end, it is about choosing good enough, not the best. More on this refer my latest article.

Here, are the screenshots of the published piece in Woman's Era, November (second) edition.

What does morning walk mean to you?

Just came back from morning walk. Each walk is a milestone in itself as it assimiliates number of small steps to place you at some distance from goalpost. A sense of achievement dawns and reinstates self-belief. A walk then can’t be viewed in isolation. It’s a part of a bigger journey which culminates into you being a healthy version of yourself. It’s a promise you make every night just before sleep that you will own up to god’s greatest gift is to you-your body.  Each part you’re blessed with needs care, attention and a dignified treatment from you, therefore, you decide to walk some distance to live up to that promise.
It’s a meeting with god’s ultimate creation trees, sun, flowers, soil, air, sky, birds, mountains and what not. It’s an opportunity to meet with the creator of Universe-Sun. A walk thereby is an excuse to watch sunrise and believe that there will always be dawn after a dark night.

See you soon

How to maximise your energy

One tip which my mother swore by and urged me to use often was charging oneself before doing any important work. By charging, she meant charging one’s exhausted mental batteries. The way to do this was simple:
  1.  Choose any affirmation which you wish to inculcate in your personality. For eg. My work is wonderful and is appreciated by my boss/ I am lucky/ I stay positive in all circumstances etc.
  2.   Say it in present tense
  3.   Repeat at least 21 times in your mind without being loud. (  If needed, count on your finger.)

These affirmations recharge your system and create positive vibrations all around you. The aura helps in executing your work efficiently as your state of mind becomes a tad better than it was seconds before.

For me the most important thing is writing. And I have applied this simple formula minutes before I sit down to write. And I have seen tremendous benefits of it. My mind gets aligned, feel better, energy level rises, faith develops that I already have what I am seeking within me. Isn’t that great?

Try it!

I watched the sunrise today after completing two rounds of jogging which II combine with brisk walking. Somehow, in all these years of my fitness sessions I have realised that I love exercising in open green spaces where pathways are dotted with lush trees, shrubs, grass. The yellow flowers sun kissed reflection over the backdrop of dark green leaves, morning sun rays filtering through huge coconut trees appear like a fountain of light, and the magician sun is busy at work painting sky with varied hues. What a spectacle of nature! Feel blessed to have witnessed it today. I am on a vacation in Bhubaneshwar these days where I have time to stand and stare.

City life dulls nerve cells. Life in small towns is much easier, simple and pollution free. Nature shows its grandeur in all its mirth.

Will post again!

With love.

Trip to Bhubaneshwar

I have come to Bhubaneswar for a short stay. I loved this city precisely because of its closeness to nature. The affinity this city enjoys with nature is commendable. In metropolitan cities, life is fast, pollution filled, thoughts are faster too. In contrast, life in smaller towns is easy. People don’t think much. They believe in carrying out there day to day activities with simplicity. My only connection with this city in Odisha was when I had first heard of its name in my English class. The short story called ‘Tribute’ placed the central character of Babuli in Bhubaneswar. Since, my brother lives here, it became a good reason for me to explore this place. I am loving every bit of it.

More later.
